Chateaux et Demeures
The French Dream. Have you ever dreamed of living in France in a noble house, a Manoir or a Chateau? Now you can do it on an affordable budget. For a relatively small investment you can be an owner of a Chateau. You will own a significant interest in the property, and use it just as often as you like. This is not a time share or condominium plan, this is shared ownership with 3 or more couples who share the dream of the French country lifestyle.
In 1989 I purchased a Chateau in the Loire Valley about two hours south of Paris. It was a dream come true. I lived in France part of the year. I conducted my Architectural practice in California from France. I had the best time of my life. I grew up in a middle class neighborhood in California, but suddenly I became "Nobility" as the owner of a Chateau. I was the sole owner of the Chateau, and after a while I became aware that it was expensive to be the only owner. There are maintenance costs, property taxes, and other expenses that add up if you live on-site only part of the year. About that time I met a group of Americans from San Francisco who bought a Chateau not far from mine. Four families shared the ownership and used the property at various times of the year. When they were not in residence, then rented it out on a weekly basis to cover expenses, and it was managed by an independent third party.
